International Exhibit
The International Exhibit consists of four curatorships posited as four disagreements. Chief Curator is Juan José Díaz Infante. The exhibit is divided as follows:
First Disagreement: *Dissidence. Non places & Device art*
Curators: Eduardo Navas / Machiko Kusahara
This curatorship deals with techno-artistic praxes. In it, disagreement revolves around the artists’ usage and reshaping of devices and how the latter lead critically towards a stance different from that in which they originated.
Second Disagreement: *Sonic Bifurcations*
Curators: Rodrigo Sigal / Arcángel Constantini
This curatorship deals with the sonic scope: concerts, sound installation, workshops, lectures. It explores four approaches to working with sonic matter, thus rendering an up-to-date overview of the state of electroacoustic music and sound art:
Installation and hardware hacking
Acousmatic, concrete, electroacoustic and experimental music
Real time processing, hardware vs. software
Experimental sound
Third Disagreement: *Dense local*
Curators: Gunalan Nadarajan / Eduardo de Jesús
This curatorship deals with techno-artistic praxes focusing on how local production has created density generating nodes as opposed to the global technological scheme.
Fourth Disagreement: *From exile to insile. Are we all outsiders?*
Curators: Arlindo Machado / Araceli Zúñiga
This selection aims to confront the most consistent productions in the sphere of Latin American video in recent years, amidst an interpretative movement of the global and the local and from the standpoint of a radical internationalization. The exhibit puts forward an innovative discussion about that which signals the end of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st in human, social and artistic terms. The point is to focus on what Latin Americans are doing outside their native countries and on how those who stay regard and interpret that which takes place outside.
