(dis)COMmunities
CENTRAL CONCEPTS:
1.The notion of friction that appears in the passing from one community to another causing the sign change of a homing and suggestive gesture. To point out the ambiguity that oscillates from hospitality to hostility. A concept from Derrida: Private place is that in which the proprietor exerts a specific sovereignty: “that of receiving whoever he decides to.” In synthesis, we bet for a hiasis. The permanence, in tension, of the limits between the common region and the personal refuge. Where the summoned practices are mutually recognized even without understanding each other. Where he who invites, the host, assumes his condition of hostage before his guest, and the invited hostage becomes the one who invites the inviter, the owner of the host’s house.
2. We would like to work with the notion of insufficiency. We started from the assumption that a community is de facto incomplete. It is defined by a structural lack, by an incompleteness that comes from the disaggregation of an originary identity. If the community is always an abstraction, what are the practices that intend their integration and reinforcement looking for? From a sociological point of view, nothing else can be suggested but that communities are ludic abstractions that give place to uncertain political formations.
The project will seek new ways of articulating the friction with the insufficiency to generate suggestive and affective cultural practices.
CURATORIAL STRATEGY
Laboratorio Curatorial 060 looks to find fissures on determined formulas through what earlier was called curatorial action.
This concept redefines curatorial practice, placing art outside of a normalized scenario. In order to achieve this, the artists are invited to participate in social venues that have a strong symbolic and political connotation. Places that, by being intervened, are disaggregated in the unveiling of its practices, while evidencing its possibilities.
The works in the project will be activated in various parts of the city. What comes out of such interventions will be what will nourish the exhibition space.
The above is underlined by a wink developed through a visual communication strategy. We have built on the idea of the hub as a machine of transformations and evocations. An inflatable structure –built by one of the artists invited to develop the museography- will be the main elaboration of the discomfort caused to different communities. Hence the name of our proposal.
