What is Transitio

The International Festival of Electronic Arts and Video Transitio_mx is the most important Mexican platform showcasing and analyzing the contemporary praxes of artistic creation with electronic media and digital culture. The festival is biannual and has three main activities: a symposium, an exhibition, a contest.

A collegiate mode of operation was established in order to guarantee the continuity and organic evolution of the festival. The planning and evaluation council was founded in 2004 with a group of independent artists, directors, cultural managers and employees of the Centro Nacional de las Artes which, through the Multimedia Center, hosts and organizes the Festival. Since its first edition, in 2005, the Festival of Electronic Arts and Video Transitio_mx inaugurated a process of reflection on the management of video and electronic arts through different approaches (theory, criticism, praxes).

The aim of each edition has been to establish a dialogue around the problems of artistic-technological praxes. A celebratory format was designed since the first festival, that relocates electronic art in a shared, social and open spacefrom and for the community. Transitio_mx celebrates its third edition with an invitation to plurality, with a view to incorporating other uses of technology, designed from and for different fronts.
