Nomadic Borders

The current edition of the Transitio_mx festival titled Nomadic Borders has the initiative of creating action and reflection over the concept of community. The purpose is to weave affective and knowledge networks, gathering together with artists, scientists, collectors, technologists, curators, academics, and general public to dilute, symbolically, the territorial and disciplinary limits, reinforcing projects that are of a hybrid character and that offer relational strategies.

In this sense an allusion is made to the metaphor of the border as a non-place, a symbolic site that draws a territorial line and opens a new possible future for convergence to occur. The concept of nomad also intervenes as the image of the mobile, that which lacks of a specific geographic location, just like the media/electronic arts.

This edition emphasizes the action and, at the same time, the vestige, the trace that remains. That is why the essential here consists not only on the final result, but also on the entirety of meanings, from the small encounters, to the building of processes. The richness of these coincidences is found when passing by the crossroad of the various limits and, thus, the festival considers the community as the heart of the production that gives meaning to the event.

The festival extends its arms to all of those who, whereas potentially, directly or indirectly, conform such society, no matter the type of technology, tool or language used. The objective is to conform a complex collective composed of persons from different fields of knowledge (artistic, social and scientific disciplines) as well as geographic areas, since we all finally converge in this space we call electronic art.
